talk to a local church. there are always people there that will help! also, you might want to post your zip code…. somebody local may read your post, and have some items they want to donate. take good care of yourself and your baby. i know you’ll make it through this, & the two of you will be just fine!

If you are currently on welfare, I believe that system has to help you with such things. Also, you are eligible to sign up for the WIC program, which helps to provide you and your baby with essentials for pregnancy and beyond. This isn’t an attack, but I am very curious as to how you can afford your computer and internet access to have posted this questions, but you cannot afford a bassinet? Just wondering. Anyway, I am (fortunately) not on any kind of program, but I bought a crib second hand (not recommended unless you know the safety standards of cribs) for $10 and a bouncer and stationary playset for $5 each at yardsales, which are pretty popular this time of the year. If you still can’t find anything, I would ask the help of a local church. I know that at least my church does collections for people when they ask for help, even if they don’t know who they are. I am sorry for your situation, and I do hope it improves very soon.

Depending in what state you live, The govenment or your Drs office may know some charitble agencies that can assist you, When you filled out for welfare they should have told you about them, you could always call them too

My local church did a babyshower for mothers who dont have anything and gave them everything they need…also contact your local DHS office (public aid) they can also help with housing, clothing, baby gear, etc…and WIC for nutrition for you and baby…what state are u in BTW?

See if any local churches could be of help. I’m sure they would be more than willing to donate used baby items or help you get what you need. Also, you could improvise for a short while if needed. I slept in a laundry basket for the first few months of my life :) Also a good will may have baby items at very good prices. We got a Graco Stoller in almost perfect condition at a goodwill for 30 dollars. Good Luck.

sweetie i feel so bad for you. At this point I think you should seek help from a church as well. Leave it in God’s hands and like the other person said go to yardsales and second hand stores. I go all the time, they have baby clothes for $1. (DC area) but yea you should mention where you live at cause people may know other things. Be blessed!

First thing to do is to check with Goodwill or Salvation Army or some type of thrift store. Many times these agencies have programs to assist people in your situation. If they are unable to help, check with your town’s ministerial alliance and maybe they can help you out. Check with your local police or fire department to see if they can help you get a free car seat (at least an infant one to get you started).
You will be suprised to find that all the items that people tell you you need are not necessary. You can get a portable play yard and use it for baby’s bed (many come equiped with changing table too/or use your bed/couch/floor for changing). You can bathe baby in the kitchen sink if you don’t have a baby bath (or just use a sponge insert in the tub in a couple inches of water). A bouncer and stroller aren’t musts but do make life easier. You don’t need all the fancy high priced gadgets, just the basics.
When my first baby was born, I was almost 22 and hubby was out of work. We had NOTHING and got by with minimal items. So I really understand the stress you feel right now.
