As long as there are no allergies you are fine using whatever detergent you like
thats fine but dreft is best
The detergents made specifically for babies are scams. What you’re using sounds excellent- no dyes or perfumes.
Also, a good suggestion is to use only 2/3 of a lid full. I do this and get good results (with cheap detergent, I use a bit more).
I use regular Purex laundry soap. The same soap my family has used for years. Even her newborn clothes got washed with ours. Unless your baby has super sensitive skin or a specific skin problem, you don’t need to use any kind of special soap
Some will say that you should only use dreft because it is made especially for baby’s sensitive skin. I have always used Purex and I have never had any problems. As long as your baby does not seem to be having any issues, then you should be fine!
“All” Free and Clear
I use dreft for my baby. Her doc recommended it so i switched from downy when she broke out in rashes. Her health visitor said all is also good. Dreft works fine for me so i’m sticking with it.
Dreft contains perfumes so it isn’t necessarily the best. I use All free and clear and Downy free and clear. My son actually has problems with Dreft (they used it at his daycare).
I have always just washed his clothes with mine and used regular detergent. Usually Surf (I LOVE the smell).
Unless the baby has sensitive skin there is no need to use any special detergents.
Tide Free should work just fine for your baby. It just eneds to be dye and perfume free.
You should still wash the baby’s clothes separately from yours though.
I use Dreft. The plan was to use Tide Free, but my son got a rash all over his body, so I switched to Dreft. It could have just been a newborn rash but I freaked out and changed the detergent anyway. LOL
I use cloth diapers which I was daily, and I wash his clothes about once a week since he doesn’t ever spit up on them and it takes that long to build a load. It doesn’t take that much detergent, so the fact that Dreft is twice as much as Tide doesn’t bother me so much.
I just normally used the Sun Laundry Soap or Walmart brand and used it on my son’s clothes after he was born and have had no problems. Unless your baby has an allergy from a certain detergent you should be fine.
I use Dreft since it’s designed to use for infants, and they are less likely to be allergic to it, but i know my older sis always used regular detergent for her babies, and they were fine, and as long as the baby doesn’t react to the Tide then i say using that would be fine.
Hope this helps and good luck,
We use Dreft
Take special care when washing your baby’s clothing. Most conventional laundry detergents are made from synthetic, petroleum-based chemicals that are loaded with artificial dyes, fragrances and optical brighteners. These chemicals not only wash off into the environment, they also leave a residue on clothing that can irritate and damage your baby’s delicate skin. Look for green laundry detergents made from vegetable-based cleaning agents that do not contain artificial dyes or fragrances, are more effective at removing dirt, stains and odors from clothing, and are gentler for your baby.
