look at the rate my space section on HGTV’s site! You can search for black and white girls room and see what others did!

I think it should be bright.Babies are stimulated by colors and whatever catches your eye will probably be the babies colors too until they get older. So go with your prettiest color combination, that you like.

A buttery cream color leaning towards a yellow would be lovely with back and white. Lavender or lilac? Peachy is pretty but kind of limiting – you’d need earth tones to tone it down if it were too bright.

I like beige, put some black picture frames with Black/white pics.
Install some white shelves, for curtains white or beige and attach black on the bottom, about 18″

My “babies” are older now but if I recall the black and white baby items, they often had red on some. You could make the walls white with a red wall paper border OR paint a 9″ border along the top of the room and stencil something over it in black or white OR you could buy a black and white checkerboard wallpaper border (there are two common designs, one is taxi cab, the other is diner) and add red accents (e.g. wall decals in red) over the checkered pattern.

Black and white will go with just about anything. Babies need color. The more they are stimulated, the more they learn. That’s why baby’s toys are so bright and colorful, they are stimulated by the colors. I would choose what ever bright colors you like best. I wouldn’t worry about it being “too girly” just yet. She’s young and she needs something to grab her attenchion. If you just will not have a bright room, the try for neutral colors with bright color pops. Like on draperies or funiture or pictures on the walls, etc. You don’t want her to be dull and bored in her bed room.
    Best of luck.

If your girl wants something special.
try mural wallpaper. using this on 1 side of wall would chage the whole room style.
