Thank goodness I received my son’s swing… I LOVE that thing, it was a lifesaver, lol

Other than that, I was most thankful for all the diapers I received. I didn’t have to actually start buying diapers until about a week ago and my son is 5 months old.

if i look back now the most useful gift was a ear thermometer(with babies regularly having vaccination).

  3. Tamara A says:

A baby carrier — a sling — proved the most useful thing to me.

  4. fishfood says:

    *most useful = cradle swing

    *useless = wipes warmer

  5. Bird says:

New Native baby sling was the most useful, and a diaper genie was the least. It filled up within half a day.

  6. momtoSully says:

The swaddle blanket was by far the best. My son was a big baby and could easily get out of the blankets, but the swaddle blanket is made specificlly for swaddeling. Wonderful invention!

    Baby sling
Rocking Chair (The MOST used item, I don’t know what I would have done without it)

And… Diapers, Diapers, and more Diapers.

Clothes are the main things, vests, bibs and sleepsuits (U need loads of bibs)…i got ppl to to get me clothes from birth plus…Also toys, nappies (u go thru loads), baby wipes…Bath support, baby bouncer, blankets, play mat and play gym, spoons and bowls…The best thing i got was a milk powder dispenser (when ur out and about u put the milk powder in so u dont have to mix it before u go out)…I also got a foam bath support which i thout id never use but its great and my daughters 6mnths and i still use it…People bought her soft shoes which are hopeless cos they always fall off and a waste of money, also bibs that need tiein are hopeless the pull over the head ones are better, my husbands side also biught her loads of money boxes and frames and bangles and keepsakes which is very nice but she now has loads and no wher to put them and i did say she already had these items but they didnt listen so ther just gathering dust as i have no use for them…dont be scared to say what u need it will help u out loads…

Diapers, wipes, and one of those vibrating bouncers. That was the best by far!

Quite honestly, a baby video monitor… I didn’t have one, but it would have been such a help! I know many that did have it, and it was amazing for them!!! Let’s you SEE baby, not just hear them!

Also, there is an Angelcare monitor that is a pad that sit’s beneath the crib mattress, and sets off an alarm if baby stops breathing. SIDS is such a scary thing to moms, and once you have baby, it just increases!!! That monitor was a life saver (to the moms by keeping their sanity!)!!!

Oh, also, if asking for diapers, have a variety of choices… You will NOT know what you like best until AFTER baby comes! I received alot of Huggies, but had to use Pampers Swaddlers until my daughter reached size one, when we switched to Huggies bc they were all that worked! (Food lion brand is also awesome! I hated Walmart brand… In wipes too!)
Same with the wipes! I found that the Walmart brand left fuzz on baby butts!!! Family Dollar wipes are great though, and cheaper! But if others are buying, Pampers Sensitive are really great too…

I definitely have to recommend getting a Boppy. I love it and I can’t live with out it. I use it when I’m feeding my daughter (3 months) or when I just want her to lay across my lap so I can talk to her. Also, get a microwavable bottle sterilizer (I use Avent)…they are great and save a lot of time. Hmmm…..I put a small fridge in my room…oh that was the smartest thing I could have done, because I’m live in a 3 level townhouse and the kitchen is on the bottom level. All those things are lifesavers for me. Hope this helps. Oh, I forgot…..get a SWING!!! It comes in handy when you need clean up.

  12. Baba booey says:

    most useful:
    swing
swaddlers (the kind that have the velcro and you just wrap around and velcro it, much easier than a blanket and it doesn’t come apart like a blanket)
    sleepsacks
    bouncer
    diapers
clothes (but so many people bought us clothes for later, like 6 – 9 month clothes that we barely had any for newborn – we will be happy at 6 – 9 months but it is nice to have some clothes for the beginning!)
    baby bathtub

    don’t bother with:
    wipe warmer
    scale
changing table (if you have a dresser just get changing pad and put it on top of that)
sterilizer (you only have to sterilize bottles/nipples before you use them for the first time, they don’t need to be sterilized before every use)

Onesies. You can never have too many of them. Receiving blankets, Boppy pillow, I love the Johnson’s Head to Toe Baby Wash (my son is 2 & I still use it on him), burp cloths, socks. I loved the little bouncy seat he got, that came in very handy for a long time. The most useful things I found were the most basic.

Useless stuff: wipe warmer, his bassinette (he never would sleep in it), I got an infant bathtub that I absolutely despised.

  14. lisa s says:

i would def say the baby swing i had one for all my 3 sons and they were a god send

  15. sammie says:

    Most useful:
Bottles – especially the Podee bottle.
Baby Swing – one with toys on the front and an adjustable seat
Thick towels, not the thin ones
Diapers (Swaddlers are the best)- register for larger sizes because everyone will buy newborn size
Wipes – we go through so many!
A brightly colored play mat and bright colored toys that hang from it. And extra links for hanging toys
    Double stroller
Lots of washrags, but the thin ones because they are softer.

    Least useful:
    Swaddle blankets
Vibrating seat – they liked it for about 2 minutes!

    My Boppy pillow for breastfeeding.

  17. Ashley M says:

    What I liked most

    Bouncy seat
    Diapers
Anything for the bath -I have a 2 year old son and juat recently had to buy bath soap for him, we got so much at babyshowers.
    Least liked

burp clothes (too small we used cloth diapers and recieving blankets…I had boys that always spit up..and lots)

  18. Wes says:

Those baby body carriers scare me, everytime I see a person carrying a baby in a backpack or sling I am always afraid that something is gonna happen, and the baby is gonna fall out. That may be weird, but its just me.
I would say useful things are to have two diaper bags (they seem to get stuff spilled in them easily, and with a baby its already takes forever to go anywhere). Other useful things any kind of those little clips with the ribbons that attach their pacifier so they dont drop, or attach a toy to it so it doesnt get dropped. Also I liked using those playtex bottles with the liners they worked well with my twins, and it was much less to clean.

Also defintely agree on the little bouncy chair in addition to the swing. My twins had ones that had an attached blanket. It kept them snug, and they slept for hours in those.
