Theres a toy i got for my 5 month old, loves it.. its toy that suction cups onto the high chair and the baby will whack it and it spins! it helps when tryin to feed
My son’s favorite toys are anything that he can build with. We bought him big blocks (from walmart, they are about 2 in by 2 in) and little kid legos.
The shape sorter box that plays music and lights, Leapfrog baby learning table, lights and music stage (mirror and fake microphone, Balls are endless fun. Those are just a few of my kids favorites. They like the ride ons too. Oh and the stacker stars that go by size. and the ball popper that shoots out balls.
For my son I am his best toy.
He is 7 months and he is not too much into toys. He looses interest in any toy pretty fast. I keep on rotating his toys all the time.
It seems to me that he likes stuffed animals the best and the “Learning Puppy” by Fisher Price. He plays with it every day. This puppy talks and sings and has a little light flashing.
There is this stuffed dog at babies r us. It sings and says abc’s, it counts numbers. When you squeeze say the ear it says “ear” and so on.. . my daughter LOVED it when she was about your sons age. it’s like $25.00 not that bad for all the fun they get out of it. they probably still have it there since my daughter is only 4.
One gift that my twin boys used FOREVER was the ‘little touch – leap pad’ . Your baby is a bit small for it now, but you can use it with him, and my sons still have theirs. They like Leapsters better at this age (5), but the Little Touch is still in the toy box, and still works. I’d recommend anything Leap Frog – they are all great for learning, and all the products we’ve used have been of really good quality.
Your son is reaching the age where a jumperoo would be great fun if you don’t already have one. My son absolutely loved him and I thought that it was totally worth the money. Not only will the baby gain leg strength to help them learn to crawl and walk, but also many Jumparoos (like the fisher price rainforest one that we had) also has many lights, music, and other toys for the baby to play with. I felt like this toy helped my son grow and not only become stronger, but also mroe aware of his surroundings. He definitely learned how to play with the toys and always seemed to find something new to do. When he got bigger he could also twist the seat using his feet to turn himself around.
THe other toy I will recommend is this:

It lasts from 9-36 months. THe baby can use it as a rocker, you can use it to push the baby around, they can use it to learn to walk, and also it becomes a car. My son didn’t get this until his first birthday and immediately grew attached to it. Now he rides his car on a daily basis around this house. It’s his favorite mode of transportation and he was already driving it around before he could walk.
I am a speech therapist and we always recommend toys that make noise. Ones that name colors or letters and such are really good b/c they also help them learn. Books that read or make noise are really good also. Toys that sing nursery rhymes are also great b/c with the repetition kids learn the songs.
I have no idea why people are thumbs downing sarah, we got our son mega legos that do certain things, one you can shake it, the other you can scratch it, another you can put a key in and it pops out, and so on and so on and they are all lego pieces, great for different types of stimulants. Shape sorters are a bit too young for a 6 month old, but children love them right before a year old so thats a good thing to get. Get a light up phone that sings nursery rhymes, we also got a little choo choo train that sings songs and chugs along the carpets and comes with 3 balls that spit out the back and you can feed it through the top again and again, and bouncy balls, at first we just got a plush soccer ball but once my son started to stand we got him real balls and taught him how to kick, its cute when they get all excited those first few kicks.
my daughter loves ones that make noises and that are bright, she has a rattle which she loves and they are cheap, the playmats or playgyms are priceless, they are so handy and the little one can swat and kick at the toys and stare at them and then when they get bigger they can pull the toys down to play with them, also you can make your own, babys are very simple creatures and you dont need to spend a fortune to make them happy
A working cordless phone, a remote control that has lights, a box, an empty milk jug(rinsed of course), sale flyers and a dog. These are my son’s favorite toys. He’s 8 1/2 months and the only toys that weren’t a waste of money are the ones with wheels. The rest of the time he wants to play with non-toys. At this age they’re more interested in the box the toy came in. I joke that for my son’s first and second birthday I’m getting him a fridge or dryer box full of crumpled flyers.
