What I use is Shout stain remover and then I use Dreft until it runs out then use my detergent Tide I haven’t had any problems. If your little one has any rashes switch your detergent to Dreft if not keep it like you are doing.
Dreft is a detergent I do believe.

probably not a great idea for a newborn. dreft makes a spray-on stain treatment that is probably better to use for now.

We use either All or Gain Free and Clear.
I cant remember if its All or Gain though.
    Its perfume free, etc..
It has the exact ingredients of the expensive baby specific detergents.
Oh we also use vinegar for the cloth diapers.

You can, but make sure you rinse everything thoroughly and then wash again as normal. If you wash the clothes before the formula sets like concrete you shouldn’t need Shout.

Use a non-bio detergent if machine washing.

    Don’t use fabric softener.

Dreft is a detergent for hand washing – v mild and therefore suitable.

Get something like iron out because the stain is really the iron in the formula. I use shout and was very disappointed but when I use iron out it worked wonders. I use regular laundry soap I just double rinse it by running it through normal warm/cold with soap then again cold/cold without soap. Save your money and just wash it with the rest of your clothes. Hope this helps.

Oxyclean is a great stain remover. They make one marketed for babies and another that is called Oxyclean Free. Both are free of dyes and fragrances and are probably the exact same item. It works really well. Dreft is a detergent and it’s recommended for babies because it’s free of dyes and fragrances, but so are a number of other detergents (we use All Free & Clear), so don’t feel compelled to use Dreft – there are several other options out there.

  7. beach answerer says:

shout or any of the clothing stain remover is a great idea. kids ruin clothes so fast, and it will help your babys clothes last longer, and be in good shape if you are going to save them or donate them when he outgrows stuff.

i always washed both my kids stuff with our clothes with whatever detergent we used at the time.

dreft is a detergent formulated for sensitive skin. some kids are more sensitive than other.

my son has sensitive skin and i use shout. i just do 2 rinse cycles. i normally use the dreft stain remover, but of course i never realize im out until i need it! and i use purex free and clear instead of dreft detergent. its cheaper.

My daughter is 13 months old and believe it or not, a splash of Vinegar in the wash helps get out stains from her clothes. My best friend’s mother told me this tip and it really does work. Hope this helps…
