colorful, musical
most toys will have an age appropriate displayed on the box of the toy for whichever age is appropriate for the toy.
My baby girl is 6 months, and she loves things that react (cause & effect) with her movements. For example, things that spin or make noise when she hits them. She also still loves rattles and things that spin or shake. Most things will go in their mouth this age, but it’s a good time to experiment with trying to stack things or put items into a larger container, such as shape sorting, or even a bowl to put rattles in. At this age, it’s all about reactions and learning that they can make things happen, as well as fine-tuning those motor skills. One of her favorites is the Fisher Price Amazing Animals Barnyard. The age suggestions on toys aren’t always that good, so just take your baby shopping with you. See which toys she likes to look at or touch. Good luck!
anything fun and educational. i had a mother goose video tape when i was little that had all the nursery rhymes in it w/ people who acted them out. i loved it for years and years and i hope i can find it so my son can watch it when he gets older
Look for ones that are easy to clean (dishwasher or washing machine), and don’t take batteries. Look ahead too, don’t just go for ‘six month’ toys. For what it’s worth, for about 3 months once they could sit up, my babies loved to rip up magazines, LOL.
Dont’ forget about Freecycle and Cheapcycle as a great way to get baby toys. I’ve given away lots of baby toys through Freecycle!!
try lamaze toys or some trademarks like fisher price and tommy have really lovely toys, maybe you can buy her a activity table, she will be on her feet in few months and in he meanwhile she can play seated on the floor or maybe a walker they are from 6 months as most of them like the Vtech one can be detached and carried around.
I’m sure you will find something really good for your princess
I bought my daughter DVDs, books, so far. I know her grandmother bought her this little activity center that you grow along with, it has music and animal noises on it. Her aunt is getting her bath toys, and another aunt is getting her one of those bars that goes across her car seat carrier that is colorful and has spinning things on it so she could play while in the car.
I work in a nursery, and babies that age do not know about Christmas, but a lot of the little girls around that age in our nursery are attracted to light up, noise making, colorful toys. Those type of things cath their eye and they want to play with it, see what buttons make what happen. These toys can also be good for their brain development, but a lot of times they are really hard. If you want something softer, more attaching, cabbage patch kids babies are good dolls because of their size and they don’t have lots of little pieces. They are also realistic, not like Bratz and Barbie.

Stacker blocks
those little blocks that fit into holes
books, the little ones they like to chew on
musical toys
balls
those big plastic rings you stack
any toy that they can press something and get music or voices
Lots of colors, soft and cuddly ones, chewable ones, and ones that play lights and music
They don’t need alot of toys, I would just get something musical and colorful or something with different kind of texture. Soft toys, crunchy toys, noise making toys.
Toys are important! toys that support a child in their developmental stages are extremely important to give your child the opportunity to promote their skills and well being.
At six months your baby will appreciate colourful toys, toys that play music, recite the alphabet, shapes and colours and have colorful lights, shape sorters, ball poppers, stacking cups, building blocks.
Messy play things are also good for giving your child experience of textures like finger paints you just have to supervise closely to make sure they don’t eat it!
It really doesn’t matter if she knows the difference or not, toys and play are an important part of your baby’s development, age and stage appropriate toys will support and promote her motor skills, cognative development and emotional development so go nuts!! lol
something that’s plastic, brightly coloured and makes noise. are you in england? wilkinsons do baby toys for cheap prices, as do places like QD.
My daughter will be 5 1/2 month by christmas, so almost 6 months. I plan to buy her for toys:
—Baby Einstein “Push and pull toys” I can attach to her play mat—-they have a lot of these at Target or walmart for affordable prices
—-A couple of “Pat The bunny” type children’s books—probably I’ll get them at Barnes and Noble in the children’s section. My daughter loves it when I read to her.
—some toys that squeak like rubber duckies etc.
—I’m considering getting a new mobile thing for her crib that hangs, this one I saw at Target plays music and is very decorative looking.
—-a touch toy—something that when you touch it, it lights up and makes sounds, I’m not sure which one yet, but I’m thinking of the phone one for her.
I already have one of these, but you could also buy her a colorful “stacker” those pyramid-shaped things with colorful rings on them (I think thats what theyre called)—at walgreen’s they have one that lights up when you touch them and plays music. It says 6 mons plus on it.
My dad already said he’s going to get me an exersaucer for her. also another tip. maybe this sounds tacky, but when ppl ask me what I want for christmas, I say something for my daughter instead lol. like my mom asked what I wanted and I said an umbrella stroller lol.
