Go to google maps and search businesses. Look up “Shelters” based on your address.
Call in advance to be sure they are taking donations, wash the clothing and put it in a bag and drop it off.
So many women leaving violent relationships- leave their home with nothing, so it’s great to give their children and the women themselves the essentials.
Check Yellow Pages for organisations that welcome such donations
Try Goodwill or the Salvation Army
Try your local womens shelter. I know of one in Manhattan that does take donations. Also, you may want to donate to a church…they are always assisting those who need help.
LOL I can’t believe they only want new clothing! What were these places you were looking up? Any OB/GYN offices will gladly take ANYTHING that you have. I’ve given away diapers too small for my baby, clothes, bibs, etc…. I promise… there are so many people out there that NEED baby stuff!

You could try freecycle. It’s a yahoo group that they have in just about every city. I got some of my stuff off of it. It was a great help!! Or you could donate to a church.
