You should wait until you find out her size when shes born… and I would just go to babiesRus or something good luck. :P Whatever

Will you have a baby shower? (cuz dont buy anything until thats over)

Most generic baby clothes come in packs like a 3 pack. I shop at Target. Babies R us is expensive.

-Buy some baby gowns (they just slip on and are great when taking your tiny baby for a checkup at the pediatricians office) for boy/girl

-Onesies, just some regular white onesies are fine and small so they should fit well, dont go crazy with outfits cuz they might not fit until 3 months

-dont buy too many newborn things cuz they will grow out and you’ll be without clothes for later on, so always shop with the future in mind if you have the money now, cuz u might not have it later.

Practicality is your best bet. You need a ton of “onesies”, bibs and little feeties… As for “outfits”, for cuteness purposes, I shop @ “achildscloset.com” or any of those boutique websites if you want the WOW factor! You dont really need alot of outfits, as newborns grow at a fast pace!! You can buy a few 0-3 months, but always be ready for the next size up ahead of time. Hopefully, a baby shower can cover the 3-6 size months for you, as it comes FAST!!! Congrats to you and your family!

I would get a few things in a preemie size just in case she is really tiny. Leave the tags on them in case she is too big for them and that way you can return them.
Get several onesies and sleepers in newborn or 0-3 months. Babies can be messy. They pee, poop and spit up a lot. You aren’t going to catch every mess before it happens, so you will be changing baby at least 3 times per day. You’ll also want to have a few nice outfits on hand for when you go out or have pictures taken, but for the most part you need layette stuff. Comfy “hang out at home” stuff.
I shopped at Babies-r-Us. Sometimes they had good deals. Also stores like Target and Kohl’s always have lots of sales.

don’t spend too much money on clothes. Your best bet right now is buying packs of onesies- go with the 3-6 months as the newborn ones will probably only be used once or twice. I suggest buying one pack of newborn in case she is small, but she will grow fast, so no worries. Also some footie pajamas in 3-6 months, i prefer the ones with buttons- this way if its cold and she needs a diaper change, you don’t have to unbutton the whole thing, but just the bottom area.

As far as where to buy- walmart has packs of Gerber onesies, check out ebay and yard sales- especially the smaller sizes because they will be lightly used. Ask friends, family and maybe your local church if anyone has babies who have outgrown their clothes. Ask around on craigslist. You will find that a lot of moms will just give away some baby clothes in order to help another. We know what its like trying to find clothes. Good luck.

I shop at Oshkosh, The Children’s Place, Carter, Kohls, Farm & Fleet (sounds funny but they have name brand clothes!), Old Navy, & Walmart (they have great onesies for cheap). Some people think it’s expensive, but their clearance is amazing at all places. Or simply garage sales have LOTS of girl clothes & they’re hardly worn at that age & are greatly priced.
I always go a little overboard on clothing, so I have a lot. That & I despise doing laundry (I live in an apt & hauling the clothes up and down all the stairs isn’t any fun). Make sure you have some newborn clothing though. My mom told me that I’d probably have a big baby & he’d be in 0-3 month clothing. Not true. My son, despite weighing 8lbs 8oz, wore newborn onesies until he was 2.5 months old & the NB pants until he was 3 months old – they are long. For NB sizes I had 5 onesies, 2 shorts, 2 pants, one pant outfit, 2 one piece outfits. I had about 15 sleepers. It sounds like a lot, but there were nights my son would go through 3 or 4. & outfits, he went through up to 5 some days. He spit up A LOT (had acid reflux) & he would poop through at least 1 outfit a day.
As for other clothing, I always had about 15 onesies, 5 shorts, 5 pants, 8 socks, 10 sleepers. It really depends on if you want to do laundry often, if your child spits up a lot, & if you like to buy clothes (like me!).

ETA – I don’t know why everyone is speaking of 3-6 month clothing. As far as onesies & sleepers, my son was in starting at 3 months or shortly thereafter. As far as pants, most of he was in them longer. (he was in 0-3mo pants when he was 3 months, 3-6 month pants when he was 6 months, & finally caught up around 9 months & was in them true to size). Those were the knit pants, but the jeans might be more true to size.

If you buy clothes don’t buy a lot of newborn clothes just because they are newborn doesn’t mean they will fit into them. When my daughter was born she was 8 pounds and she only fit into her newborn clothes for about a week. I bought alot at MOM 2 MOM sales and garage sales and Walmart, babies r us Target, Burlington Coat factory, I would change their clothes once in the morn and and then again the next morn. My daughter stayed pretty much in pj’s. Um two piece pj’s are easier because it’s easier to change there diapers in the middle of the night.
