Bottles- About 6-10
Blankets-2 or 3
Diapers-UNLIMITED!! haha
Burp Rags-6-10
Onesies and sleepers-6-10
It depends on how often you do laundry, but if you’re like me, I do it 2-3 times a week, so that would be enough stuff. Most likely, you’ll end up with WAYYY too much stuff~!
bottles: 2 or 3 if your breastfeeding for expressing and pumping, if your formula feeding then i have not a clue, never fed my babies that junk
recieveing blankets: a lot like 10, take some from the hospital too for memories, they are great for not only keeping baby warm but also for cleaning up messes
diapers: i would buy 2 boxes of newborn, and 3 boxes of size 1s
Burp Rags: i had about 5 but they are so small and get dirty so quickly that i switched to using recieving blankets as burp clothes
Onesies & Sleepers: I had about 35 onesies (5 a day for a week so i could get by doing as little laundry as possible) and 14 sleepers (2 a day for a week)
lots of bottle maybe 6-8 your baby will want to a bottle every 4 hrs or so.
receving blankets maybe 3, in case the first two get dirty.
diapers, again lots, they need a diaper change approx. every 3 hrs or so. so have a box or two (huggies are the best)
burp rags, I never personally used them, but if you’re getting the wipe down ones maybe two, the cloth ones maybe 5.
onesies and sleepers, you can never have too many, at least 5 or each day.
hope this helps. and good luck.
-Bottles i would say like 3 or 4 4 oz ones
-Receiving blankets like 5 or 6
-Diapers you can never have enough of them. It will also depend on how big your baby is when its born
-Burp Rags at least 7 one for every day of the week
-Onesies you have to figure your probably going to be changing the baby more then once a day so i would say like 14 or more
-Same with the sleepers your probably going to end up changing the baby more then once a night so maybe 10
It’s healthier for you and the baby to breastfeed, and having bottles/formula around just makes it more likely that you’ll fail at breastfeeding. If you plan on breastfeeding but want bottles for storing/feeding expressed milk, you only need maybe 3. Unless you plan on being away from your baby for a long time…like if you’re working. Then you’ll need more…probably about 6.
Receiving blankets. It depends how often you want to do laundry. I started out with about 10, but ended up with about 20 in the end because my daughter had reflux and spit up all the time, so I was constantly having to grab a fresh one.
Diapers. I’d buy one package of newborn diapers and one package of Size 1. The reason I don’t recommend any more than that is for two reasons. For one, you don’t know how much your baby will weigh when it’s born. Mine were huge and didn’t fit into newborn diapers except for about a week!
And second, different brands work better for different babies. Buying one package only lets you see if that brand works so you don’t have all these extra packages of a brand you don’t like.
Burp Cloths: A dozen at least. If your baby is a spitter, you’ll probably want more.
Onesies & Sleepers: It depends how often you want to do laundry. If you plan on doing the baby’s laundry once a week, I’d suggest 14 onesies and 10 sleepers. If you plan on doing laundry more often, you might be able to get by with less.
For me, I had probably 40 onesies and 20 sleepers because my baby had reflux and was constantly spitting up, so I had to change her clothes all the time. Even with that many, I had to wash her clothes every other day.
Bottles? This really depnds on u, u can just buy 1 and wash it every time or u can buy more
Receiving Blankets? I went through a lot of blankets in the beginning , i would say maybe.. 10
Diapers? Dont buy toooo many newborn diapers they grow out of these fast!! I would just buy a pack or 2 of newborn and maybe some size 1′s
Burp Rags? Lots!
Onesies & Sleepers? Probably lots of these two.. it really depends on how much laundry u wanna do
Congrats on the lil’ one on the way. Don’t panic okay….
Bottles – about 6-8 4oz (less if BF or sterilising more than once a day)
Receiving Blankets? at least 3
Diapers? If using cloth, about 2 packs of 10 each (but keep one pack of disposable on standby) If using disposable, buy at least 2 packs
Burp Rags? Not really necessary, you can use the cloth napkin
Onesies & Sleepers? about 8 pcs or more (buy a bigger size 3-6M coz they grow fast)
I found this article useful when buying for my 1st child ;

Bottles, I would say to estimate it out. If you are primarily bottle feeding then I would buy between 6-8 4 ounce bottle for the first few months and then about 6-8 or so larger bottles when the baby starts eating more. You can also look at it as: the bbay eats on average about every two hours… how many times will it be at the breast or how many times do you want to be stuck washing/sterilizing bottles every day?
Receiving blankets, I’d say about 6-8 also is nice to have because sometimes you will want to swaddle them with one and also put one over them… then they are going to spit up and such too… so you’ll need to carry at least one extra in the car.
Diapers, don’t over buy diapers until you have an estimate on the weight of the baby. Then think about the fact that you’ll change around a good 10+ diapers per day and maybe even closer to around 25+ depending on the child. Then from there I would estimate how many you’ll need in which size. Also, the hospital provides diapers while you’re there and what is left over in the open pack you get to take home. = )
Burp rags… I’d get 10 or more. They eat about every 2 hours and will spit up about that frequently also, lol.
Onesies and sleepers…. I’d get about 10 onesie’s or more and about 7-8 sleepers… one for every day of the week. Onesie’s and sleepers are GREAT! Way better idea than fancy outfits. They are going to get spit up on and be wrapped up in blankets most of the time anyways.
Congrats and good luck!
{And ignore everyone who knows everything about breastfeeding! If you choose to go formula then that’s your choice. I did both and guess what? Both of my kids are still alive and smarter and healtheir than ever! WITH FORMULA! Oh wow! lol}
Bottles? – at least 6-10 (you can always wash as you go too to save money)
Receiving Blankets? (about 6) 2 to 3 day in case of accident
Diapers? 10 a day
Burp Rags? 2-3 a day
Onesies & Sleepers? at least 2-3 a day in case of accident – GL!!!
BOTTLES: I would do at least 6 4oz bottles because newborns only eat between 2-4 oz every 4 hrs at a time. Also you won’t run out before you wash them.
RECEIVING BLANKETS: You can get a package of 4 if you want. Most people give a lot of receiving blankets at your baby shower. Mine never liked being swaddled after 2-3 days post birth. But I used them during the summer months to keep them warm in AC.
DIAPERS: At least 1 package of newborns. I wouldn’t go with more. I buy 1 package of Parent’s Choice diapers ’cause they’re only $15 a box of 180. Baby’s get big fast so you don’t want them to outgrow the diapers before you’re able to use them. This is also a big baby shower item. So don’t buy them until after the shower.
BURP RAGS: I used the cloth diapers from walmart. I just bought a package ’cause you only use 1 or 2 a day plus they’re more absorbant than regular burp rags. 6 should do the trick.
ONESIES/SLEEPERS: 2 pkg of onsies and probably 7 (wks worth) of sleepers.
I wouldn’t buy anything of these until after the shower for these are big items that people give at baby showers. Congratulations on the happy event.
Bottles? I had like 10 and that was and is plenty
Receiving Blankets? I had like 20 and that is way too many. I even have a reflux baby
Diapers? You can never have enough just leave the packages unopened until you need them, so you can exchange them for a larger size if needed.
Burp Rags? I had like 6 and that was plenty. If we ran out we just used a dish towel
Onesies & Sleepers? I also had too many onesies like 25 and just enough sleepers 7 one for each day.
u are going to need a lot of closes and diapers a lot bottle blankets it depends u are to need wipes if u are going to formula feed wic can help u with milk
