My daughter is 7 weeks and 11 lbs. and still fitting in some NB clothing… Mostly the onesies and pants, sleepers she is in 0-3.
It really depends on the baby but I would get a couple of NB outfits just in case. Keep the tags on them and see how big/small your baby is at birth then you can take them back if need be.
Newborn size I think goes up to 9lbs. You really should buy more 0-3 month outfits and maybe 3 sleep and play newborn size clothing. My baby was 7lbs 11 oz when born and she was in newborn for a month.
Skip the newborn and go with 0-3 month clothing. Chances are even if your baby does fit into newborn it will only be for a couple of weeks. My smallest was 7lbs 12oz and he didn’t fit into newborn. I am guessing it is probably up to around 7lbs, it would also depend on the length of your baby not just the weight.
I think that it is under nine or ten pounds. I would make sure to buy some, though. I was 7.5lb when I was born and my parents had nothing for me to wear home from the hospital, so they had to go buy a bunch of newborn stuff. I wouldn’t buy too many, but I would make sure to have some.
My DD was 8 lb 6 oz, and never fit into a single newborn item…
Newborn clothes come in different size ranges.
There are some that fit 5-8 lbs
And there are some for 5-12 lbs
Basically anything over that as far as I have seen is 0-3 months
When I was born I weighed 9 lbs , my husband was 11 lbs. Our little girl was 7lbs when she was born so our size had nothing to do with how big she was when she was born.
I only had a few things that were newborn size. I had 3 sleepers and a few onesies and it lasted me just fine.I didn’t want to buy alot of tiny stuff in case they didnt fit. I left the tags on until she got here so I could exchange them if I needed to. She grew out of them at around 2 months old. There was alot of stuff she wore that was 0-3 months and she still wears a few of them now at 5 months old.
I only have like two newborn outfits because they were gifts that I couldn’t exchange. I think 0-3 months is just a better option because they can wear them from the start even if the clothes are a little big at first. It seems like everyone I know had babies who couldn’t fit into newborn past the first week or so. The baby won’t care if the sleeves and legs are a little long and neither will I!
Hi i had my baby 3 month ago and he weighed 8lbs he fitted into newborn stuff (but they grow very fast) I would recommend u’d wait till u get more scans done coz the doctors can tell give u an approximate baby weight and height ect I also would recommend not to buy to much baby clothes coz they will grow out of them in a blink of n eye and before you know it you’ll have clothes he/she aint even got around to wearing.

0-3 months swamps most newborns. Mine were 8lb3 and 7lb 13 and both wore newborn for about a month.
Even quite big newborns are tiny compared to most babies you see out and about, or on TV (TV “newborns” are always much older – they are not allowed to use actual newborns).
my son was born at 7lb 15oz, and all his “newborn” clothes were either way too big, or just a bit baggy on him, none of them fit well until a week or two later. babies are smaller than you might imagine, so go ahead and buy some “newborn” sizes. if you’re still worried, leave the tags on, and keep all your reciepts so that if they are too small, you can always return or exchange for bigger clothes!
I think “newborn” is supposed to fit roughly 7-12 lbs, or something like that.
It’s usually up to 10 pounds, as well as newborn diapers. My son was 8lb 4oz at birth and since I like to buy him and dress him in clothes that are a little big for him (so he has room to grow) he never wore newborn sizes. He would have outgrown them in a flash. At 3 months now he is already almost 14 pounds.
Newborn 5-8 lbs 0-3 months 8-12 lbs 3-6 months 12-16 lbs. I have been buying alot of baby clothes my first as well, everything that I bought has weight and hieght measurments on the tags. LOL. And duh the clothes are small! I hope something in the 3 month size range doesn’t come out my vagina! Lmao!
it usually says it on the clothes in small print. but its usuall 5-8 lbs. with my first one i got 03 months just because i was expecting to have a bigger baby (he 9lbs 3 oz). my doctor told me the baby was going to be big. i would wait before you by clothes for a newborn, just because you dont know how big the baby will be when he/she is born. if you absolutely can’t resist. try buying clothes for 6 months and above. you may have to buy premie clothes for all you know.
