Baby clothing sized DON’T really work, I found. But 6 months would be up to about 6 months. The best baby sizes are those that also have a weight range associated with them, as Carter’s often does. The thing is, my baby was larger than average size, so he was in 24 months at 12 months.
In Carter’s, a 6 would be up to 6 months
…
sometimes the clothes will say 0-3 and it will still fit a 6 months old cause sometime the clothes is cut big. when the clothes say 6 months it usually 6-9 months. sometime the clothes will be cut small to so you might see something that say 6-9 and it will fit a baby that 3-6 months, then there is some that you could just look at and see that it could fit.
congratulations
good luck
0-3 means anywhere from 0-3 months. 6 months means around 6 months (give or take – all babies are different sizes..) 12 months means around 12 months.
Babies sizing is just as messed up as women’s sizing. Sometimes you might wear a size 4, sometimes you might wear a size 6 or 8. The best way is to use the labels as a rough guide. You’ll be surprized at how quickly your baby will grow out of those 0-3 clothes and be wearing 6 month clothes. (My daughter was so small she wore 12-18 month clothes at her second birthday… I guess she was a size 4 that day!!)
I found that different brands ran differently. Carters always seemed to run small where Baby Koala runs big. You’ll just have to experiment and try different brands until you know your sizing. However, one thing I did was go by weight instead of months. My son is 8 months old, but some 12 month sizes fit him. Good luck!
Most clothes will fit until a little bit after your baby hits the size (like maybe through 7 months for 6 month size) – if your baby is about average size. The Children’s Place has signs in some stores indicating that if your infant is about 12 months old, you should probably be buying 12-18 month clothes.
The best thing to do is look at the height and weight recommendations from each manufacturer. They overlap, but not as much as you’d think! The book Baby Bargains has a chart of what heights and weights are listed for size 6 month clothes from a variety of manufacturers and there are some where the top weight of one brand is less than the lowest recommended weight for another.
