I’m with a friend who has just discovered that he and his wife are debating a baby. If it’s a girl that your child something you want in the 300 at the top of the popularity of the social security name. And “this trend? The name seems, is beginning to lose popularity, but it seems that I much” belongs. Thoughts? Oh, BTW the name is Delaney.

    ♥ I actually havent heard anybody (a child included) called Delaney. I’d leave the baby naming up to your friend & his wife. It could be worse… they could name their child Pilot Inspektor or Apple. lol.

    Eh, no I don’t think that’s quite trendy yet, I don’t think that name will really get much higher, unless something happens in the celebrity world with that name. Delilah is probably more “trendy” Delaney, is pretty nice, not too popular. Anyway good luck to them.

    Trendy in my view doesn’t mean in the top 300. I would say just in the top 50. But, and this is a big BUT, if it’s a real traditional name say, like Alexander or Christopher, it still is traditional first. It will always be around. So then it may still fall under trendy because it’s in the top 50, but it’s not going away like others have…like Jamie…it was very unisex 60′s & 70′s type of name. I think that is the true definition of trendy. Where it comes, and then goes, and basically never comes back. *Delaney is a cute name, and old. It has made a come back in the past 10 years …but it’s still not that popular.

    My oldest daughter’s name is Delainey [just another spelling]. I picked it because it was uncommon, and still is. I’ve never heard of someone with her name. [AND BTW NO ONE ASKED IF YOU LIKED THE NAME}

  6. Lena Isabel says:

    I consider anything that is in the top 100 or below that but rising quickly to be “trendy”. I also consider names that are spelt “differently” as a bad attempt to be “unique” as trendy. With that said, I’ve never considered Delaney to be trendy. It’s an excellent name.

  7. Jamie says:

    Well i am pregnant and having the hardest time finding a name I like because of “trendiness”. I am about to say the heck with it and just name the baby my favorite name, regardless of how popular it is!!

  8. Orange Peel says:

    Delany is a very rare female first name and a very popular surname. It can also be used as a boy name.

    I wouldn’t pick the name Delany because it means “dark challenger”.

    I like the name Emily; meaning honest, smart, and caring and being VERY popular.

    Good luck :D
