I bought a power steamer to sanitize my baby’s toys. I just don’t trust Clorox to be okay to put in the mouth!

Don’t use any harsh chemicals like bleach or clorox. You can run them through the dishwasher, or wash them in the sink with regular dish soap and hot water.

For what it’s worth, I never sanitized my son’s toys. Kids are pretty resilient and if they can fight off germs when they are young it is much better for their immune system in the long run. Too clean means they never get the chance to be exposed to germs and thus don’t develop that same immunity.

I use Clorox Anywhere spray and wipe them down. I understand I have friends with a 9 month old, 8 month old and 6 month old and my daughter is 4 months old and when we get together I do not think there is a single item with slobber on it lol…

if they are just little plastic toys like teething rings and stuff i just throw them in the dishwasher. the soft stuffed toys just go in the washing machine. i do this about once a week.

I think it is Clorox that has the special cleaner that you can use on hard surfaces and is safe to use on everything. Its called Clorox Anywhere Sanitizer..its safe around kids and food.

To be honest, it is not necessary to sanitize shared toys, unless one of the children has been ill. It is good exposure for them. The germs help make their immune systems stronger.

I think on the back of bleach bottles there is a ratio to follow to sanitize things. Its something like a cup of bleach to a gallon of water. you can soak the toys in a bucket of this solution for a while and then rinse them off in the bath tub or something to get all of the bleach off. You don’t want any left on the toys before you give them back to the children.

Have you looked into using a UV light to sanitize toys?

i just heard this earlier today
    the “formula” is
    1 CUP bleach
    1 GALLON of water
mix and soak toys for 5 minutes then rinse thoroughly
