Rewash them and use vinegar and dreft. Vinegar helps remove other things too. About 1 cup and make sure you do a double rinse to help get excess detergent and vinegar out. so it doesn’t irritate babies skin.
wash them again use fleecy scented detergent works for me
wash and put about 2 cup of vingar in with them [no soap]
then wash with tide and that should take the smell out.
I would return the clothing. You do not want your baby wearing clothing that has been exposed to smoke. The chemicals can stick to the clothes and cause health and breathing problems. Hopefully whoever you bought them from has a return policy.
Add 1 cup of vodka (or alcohol for first aid uses) to the wash with the soap and a 1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse (if your washing machind has a fabric softener dispenser or you have a downy ball use that for the vinegar).
Vinegar is a great fabric softener and removes smells and kills yeast. Your clothes won’t smell of vinegar, I use 1/3 cup for nomal loads. And unlike commerical liquid fabric softeners vinegar doesn’t cause clothing to become (more) flammable.
try washing them with dreft and half cup of baking soda in the water,. If that doesnt work try some febreeze in the water as well! just to be sure to rinse well if you use another detergent than dreft! good luck!
vinegar and your detergent at the same time….presto!!!
why don’t you try vanilla favor or scent and if that don’t do it , then throw them away
I guess this will ‘cure’ you from buying baby and kid clothes on E-bay. I never would.
You have lot’s of good answer’s and I would just try to air them out. Before I had a good job and was short on finance’s I had to buy a used couch. I had the same problem. With time and fresh air they will smell better. Wash and rewash. You can add a color bleach or bleach may help. You could try Lysol, but be careful it bubble’s. Hand wash with Lysol, rinse good and then rewash in a washer.
Whenever you buy item’s alway’s ask the seller if it come’s from a smoke free environment
Use a 1/2 of a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle, takes the smell of EVERYTHING out, and it makes the clothes nice and soft, and it is natural, so will not irratate the skin
