I prefer in your face way out there off the wall style.
To an extent, a year ago, when I first started answering questions, I wouldn’t consider my taste quite as mature as it is today. It’s a combination of exposure to new names, input from my contacts and just a natural maturation.
I wouldn’t have been open to Dorothy, Edith or Eleanor a year ago, and now I love them all.
My taste is vintage and underused for the most part, there are certainly exceptions but that is my ideal style.
I think I now worry WAAAAY to much about things like perfect flow, symmetry, initials, etc…..Whereas before, I just thought of names I really liked. Now I think too hard about a name and start to pick it apart and it loses it’s charm when I do that.
I hate that! I’ve turned into this baby naming crazy person that analyzes every name I hear! Aaaaah, help me! lol
Anyways, I still love nature inspired names…always have, always will. I think some of the other regulars on here have perhaps toned me down a little with their traditional tastes. Probably for the better too.
I used to like quite modern names, but seeing that most people on this section – especially the Top Contributor’s – like more traditional names, I’ve been more drawn to these than I would have otherwise been. I love strong, masculine names such as Matthew and Thomas for boys, and sweet, soft feminine names such as Charlotte and Olivia for girls.
I’m not really a baby name regular, but yes, my naming style has definitely been influenced by others.
Some new names I love that other users have suggested/mentioned:
Gabriel
Verona (thanks to Caroline)
Piper
Jude
Noelle ♥
Aoife
Orion
I prefer classic, unique, and traditional names. I like Rosamund, Benjamin, Gabriel, Matthew, Jude, Malachy, Declan, Orla, Meinwen, Ceridwen, etc. So I also like Welsh and Irish names.
Undoubtedly, my style will change over the years. I’ll see new names and fall in love with them, or come up with reasons to not like my current favorites.
There have been names that I would have normally thought were awful, but then I saw them on here so much that they grew on me. My style has changed a whole lot since I first started using Y!A, I am into more traditional names now, whereas I was into modern stuff. I am sure my style will change; some of the names I used to like are growing on me again.
Absolutely! Many of my dear contacts have introduced me to names i’d never heard of until i came here. I have a very wide range of knowledge when it comes to names, but every once in a while a contact will have a name up that i see and say- “WOW! now that’s interesting!”
I used to dislike Brody, Clara, and Jacoby…i now adore them, after much thought and argument on my contacts parts about why these are great names. lol
I am a hodgepodge. I like a bit of everything.
Of course my style will keep changing. Everything evolves over time with maturity and knowledge. otherwise we’d never grow as people.

great question
They haven’t really influenced my style, I still love Celtic, traditional boy’s names, and classic, vintage girls names, but people have turned me onto some lovely names.
The names that stand out to me are:
Boys:
Rordan Delaney (The Infamous Bunny)
Whitten (My Name Isobel)
Abram Bennett (My Name Isobel)
These are all names I’ve fallen in love with and added (or at one point added) to my favorites list. I find them to be very becoming, masculine, and true to my overall naming style.
Girls:
Almost my whole girls list was crafted with the help of Y!A users. I had names in mind, but had never really made “solid” combination (or ones I was 100% in love with) I’m still working on them, but I adapted quite a few from fellow users.
Nora Madeleine (Noelle)
Felicity Kate (Settled on with the help of TONS of my fabulous contacts)
Clara Josephine (Clara from Emmy Jo and Noelle, middle name settled on with help from contacts)
There are also tons more names I love, but have not yet added to my favorites list. For example, Caroline Audrey from edfh_ak, and Susanna Marigold from Emmy Jo. I also love Eve and Tessa thanks to Emmy Jo and Annabel Lee, as well as Dean Charles and Dean Aubrey thanks to Noelle and Miss Kris.
Overall I’ve stumbled onto hundreds of names here that I love, but my naming style was ultimately unchanged. Overall I think I learned more about rhythm and fluidity than anything, else and for that I’m very grateful
I wouldn’t say it’s shaped me, but it’s definitely broadened my choices. I still like the names that mean something to me personally.
I never used to like the names Scarlett, Charlotte, Oscar, Oliver (and a bunch more!), but I see them being paired quite nicely with other names and their appeal seems to stand out a little more
Also, Juliet gave a few lists of Afrikaan baby names, which I found quite exciting, since my grandma was Dutch – so it was nice to see some similar names from my family tree and also see some that I’d never heard of.
I wouldn’t say that I have an exact style – I do like a mix of styles, including different countries and cultures. I don’t care for trendy spellings, with a couple of very minor exceptions.
I don’t think my name choices will change drastically, although I may find some new “gems” that have grown on me, to add to my list.
Ive been more careful about names flowing, how common the name is, initials, nicknames, and stuff like that. I now like some really unique names but also some traditional ones
Ive never heard of Cadence, Lilia, Julianna, Arabella, Amelie, Michaela/Mikayla, Skye, Tatum, and more until I saw them on here now I love them
I prefer unique but also little bit of each
Yes, Im starting to like really traditional names now
I’m quite new here, so still investigating my style and discovering new names!
I love being on here in my spare time
I think I’ve stayed true with my basic likes and dislikes. There are some names I don’t dislike any more but wouldn’t use like Gavin, Charlotte and Callum.
No,not at all. I have a greater knowledge of names and there are some new names that I like, but the names that appeal to me and that I am drawn to are still the same
I still like exactly what I liked a year ago.I have learned a lot about flow and have learned a lot about names, but my style is still the same.I like what I like – I don’t care about popularity or what style it is. I would describe my overall style as slightly exotic and unusual because of their popularity.I tend like quirky names or parings that are a little bit witty and quirky.
There are some very specific sounds that I like.I have realized this since being here. I know no why I dislike some of the names – it’s because they have the similar sounds
I also adore a lot of Celtic names. I’m also drawn to Mediterranean names. Many of the names that I like, aren’t necessarily popular with the majority of YA, but they are what I like and I have done a lot of research into them. I think my knowledge and style additions will evolve and be increased or influenced, but my overall style and the things that I am drawn to- won’t. The things that I am drawn are indicative of my personality. These are names that I have been drawn to since a little girl . They are essentially representative of my personality. I like things that are eccentric and out of the box within reason
New names that I like: Aria Lily and Aria Noelle.Lark Whitney, Nola,Ember,Dawson,Kai, Brandon, Kieran (I can’t spell it the proper Irish way in my country),Salem and Asher.
I like to mix a very traditional name with a more unusual one, as that is more what I am drawn to.I can also get away with a lot of the names, because of where I live

So, I have increased in knowledge and have been introduced to more names- but, the essence of my style is the same
Nope, In pretty much had a well defined style before ever coming here.
I’d classify my style as Vintage, with a little bit of Why-Not. There are LOADS of names I like, but the ones I’d actually use are Vintage.
One name in particular that I can think of is the name Everose (said EH-ver-oze or ever-rose). I’d never heard it before, it might have even been made up. But, I think it’s lovely. And, I think it still “feels” vintage.
I doubt my style will change much. I’ve always like Vintage names. But my top favorites might change around a bit.
i use to love names that were “out there” but that’s when “out there” names weren’t popular…the old popular names like lucy and jessica have become un-popular…and wierd names are in…
i use to love:
astrid
ashlyn
aiden
emmit
mason
brooklynn
zoey
macey
payton
maddison
cole
kaleb
liam
avery
now i love:
lucie
calli
issabelle
kelsey
hollynd
elijah
