a glider or swing it’s a life saver
A good wrap. I bought the Sasha Wrap when my daughter was around 6 weeks old, I wish I would have had it from day one. (link below) I’m also glad that I had my boppy, but I wish I wouldn’t have forgotten to bring it with me to the hospital, it made breastfeeding much easier.
for us it was his bouncy seat…small and portable…it kept him occupied, especially during supper for the adults…he’s a little over 8 months old now and we have to find something new b/c he keeps trying to sit up in it…we have been using it since he was about 6 weeks old (he was in the hospital for a month b/c he was premature and the first couple weeks at home were rough)
I have 2 kids ages 11mnths and 3 years and i also have twin boys on the way
THE THINGS U WILL NEED NO DOUBT
crib
clothes
blankets
burp rags
lots of diapers and wipes
diaper rash ointment
tylenol or motrin
teething tables or oral jel
diaper bag
carseat
pacifier
bottles and nipples
toys to keep baby occupied when they get older
I could not live with out my son’s bouncy and play chair. We have the rainforest one that vibrates, plays music and has bright lights, he loves it. With my boys, they also love their jolly jumper that hangs from the door way, as well as a swing they love this too. Oh the bumbo chair is great too.
The excersaucer has never been a big hit in our home.
Each baby takes differently to different toys though.
There wasn’t much I couldn’t live without. Having my daughter was good enough! I did super stock up on diapers, which was nice, so I didn’t have to worry about rushing to the store when I was almost out for awhile.
A few things I bought not long after she was born to make life easier:
A diaper pail. I got a diaper genie, and love it. I learned quickly that a trashcan and air freshner wasn’t enough up against poop. hahaha.
More receiving blankets. I had about 5-10 originally. It was nice to have a lot more. And to have cute ones since while they’re really little, that’s like a piece of clothing almost. After about 6 months, she didn’t use them at all. But up until that point, they were super handy for bundling, a make shift diaper change station at relatives, wiping up spills, etc.
Things I had that I never used:
I’ve heard a lot of people say you’ll need bibs. My daughter was never a drooler, even when she was teething. The only time she wore bibs is when eating messy food when she got a little bit older.
Bottle Warmer – I got one at my baby shower. My daughter wanted to drink her bottles room temperature. I could make it with regular tap water, and she was more content than warming the bottle up. Saved me time and energy!
Gowns – My daughter never fit right in them and would freak out because her arms weren’t out. I had 10 gowns for her, and she never wore one for longer than an hour. The same thing with the little scratch mittens. She couldn’t stand them and would get them off as fast as I could put them on her.
randomly just my changing mat. She loves to lay on it kicking and babbling away. Its well padded and really comfy for her i think. I have the vibrating bouncy chair and a baby gym and random toys. Although her chair is a saver when i have to take a shower. She will sit quite patiently listening to the music and vibrating away for about 20 mins while i shower dress and do my makeup. Uusally helps her poo too…lol….the only down side is the music is usually stuck in my head and i end up humming or whistling it all day long!
I’m a first time mommy to a newborn (I have 2 adopted kids but they were older) but I’ve heard a thing you need & “cannot live without” is a bouncy seat.
They say you need it to put baby down while eating or taking a shower.
The one thing that made my life easier with my kids is the Fisher Price battery operated swing. When my kids were fussy I would put them in that and the swinging would calm them down and lull them to sleep.
Those little lightly stuffed animal things with the rubber teething hands and feet. Keeps my lil one occupied while in her carseat. AND, omg, the Jivin Jukebox by Fisher Price, she LOVES that thing!

Boppy is definitely a must. A bouncer is also very good to keep the baby occupied.
I had my first child 6 months ago, let me tell you when you come home from the hospital you will not be able to sleep because you are going to wonder if the baby is still breathing, non-stop!
I researched and bought the Angelcare Deluxe baby monitor, I could seriously not live without it. I wish I hadn’t waited till my baby was 4 weeks old to get it, I missed out on a lot of sleep, the day I got it I slept like a baby!! It does go off but I just go check on her and reposition her and its fine. There were a couple of times that it did go off and I had to go in and pick her up. We truly believe its a life saver!
I think there are a lot of necessary items for a newborn baby which should be considered first. Please see my following websites for your further information:

Good luck & congratulation!
I don’t think That I could live without my Glider Swing.
You Absolutely HAVE to have a glider swing. It’s so great for when you have to cook dinner, you can just stick your little one in it. All of my kids love it!

Here is a list of what you need.
Congrats and good luck. I hope I helped out.
These are the things I HTH. So many things are unnecessary or luxuries.
1.Swing-I got one that rocked side to side and front to back. Over time he has changed how he likes to be rocked. This gives me a few minutes to make dinner, take a shower, etc.
2. Shirts/PJ’s with mittens in the sleeves. Regular mittens just fall off and these keep the baby from scratching the heck out of their face.
3. Lots of diapers, but don’t get too many newborn, they outgrow them so quick! I had like 50 left over, but luckily had a friend who had a baby 3 weeks after ours, so she got them.
4. Receiving blankets to swaddle him in for the first few weeks and then SwaddleMe blankets (with the velcro) thereafter. Swaddling is a Godsend.
5. The Happiest Baby on the Block book-helped me learn to calm him when he is spazzing and got him to naturally turn his nights and days around.
6. Clothes of course. but don’t worry about getting all kinds of outfits. Just a couple outfits are good for when you want to show him/her off. The rest, go with onsies, rompers, etc. They are quick to access for a diaper change and don’t take a lot of maneuvering of the baby. And don’t get a lot of newborn sizes either. They outgrow them really quick, and sometimes don’t fit into them at birth! Moreover, it seems that people at showers give newborn sizes more, so you will have plenty without you forking out the money for them.
That is my list…Good luck and congrats!!!
